In my opinion LinkedIn is like a long-distance running. You have to grow your audience over time, so that they know you will provide them with a valuable content. According to the book "Lean Startup" by Eric Ries it would be a "sticky engine of growth". In this scenario customer retention vs. customer attraction are key metrics. It's worth to keep in mind that will never get a steady growth by a single initiative.
